What Personal Identity Enemies Are Holding You Back?
In our last post – 7 Enemies of Identity: Part 2 – we took a deep dive into the first four enemies of identity relating to purpose, significance, meaning and security. Today we will finish out our series with the final three enemies of identity and share how to obtain the tools and strategies to overcome them.
Enemy 5: Not being truly AUTHENTIC to yourself day in and day out.
Authentic people seek to maximize their strengths and backfill their blinds spots. They have done a lot of self-discovery and development to understand their tendencies in conflict and success. They allow themselves to find fulfillment in effort and constantly compete with everyone around them. People who struggle to be AUTHENTIC also struggle to self–regulate and mature quickly. Maturity is simply applying wisdom and experience to who you truly are.
Enemy 6: The absence of CONNECTION.
When we feel isolated we feel alone. This increases negative self-talk which all stems from the need to be accepted and connected. Connections are important no matter where you go or what environment you may be in. We need to be connected regularly to our co-stars in life, (quality family members, quality friendships, and quality co-workers). Quality connections breed renewal and rejuvenation, along with inspiration.
Enemy 7: The lack of quality AFFIRMATION that speaks to what we value most.
We all want our effort somehow adding value to a worthwhile venture or endeavor. I learned a long time ago that it is important to have a three to one ratio of affirmations to corrections. Every correction needs three affirmations, one to show that they matter, one to show that you care, and one for continued growth.
My life has taught me that anyone who is willing to grow, mature and wage war against these enemies build better teams, better profits and have greater potential for opportunities.
