Do you find yourself having difficulty being thankful for anything in your life? If so, please do not feel alone. For one reason or another, there are numerous people who find the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays extremely difficult. They may have feelings of not being loved or worthlessness, which may lead them into a state of isolation. Many times, these feelings can also be triggered by a series of setbacks in their life, and they become stuck and no longer have the ability to move forward and enjoy their life. Let’s face it, life can be cruel. In retrospect, there were many times that I myself felt this way. However, because of my faith and trust in God and His word, I found a new way of looking at things, and eventually, found peace. I now know that I am never alone. God is always with me, and He has never forsaken me. He remains with me in my good times as well as the bad times. Like footprints in the sand, when there was only one set of footprints, it was He and He alone that carried me through many difficulties in my life. I am so very thankful to God and his mercy for helping me through my journey in life. He never promised that we would not go through hardships, but He did promise that He would always be there and never forsake us. If you ask God to come into your heart and forgive you, He will be there for you too. You no longer have to walk alone.
I am truly thankful to God for all of His blessings as well as the lessons that I have learned along the way. My greatest blessings in life were the births of my two sons, Stephen and Ryan. I am so thankful that they were born healthy and have grown into Godly men. My heart swells with pride each and every day, and I am proud to be their mother. They both have a servant’s heart and want to reach out and help others. God has blessed both of them with wonderful families. I know God will continue to bless them in all that they do.
After reflecting on my life, I have realized that there is so much to be thankful for and so many lessons that I have learned through the years. These challenges have made me who I am today: a happier and healthier person in mind and spirit. The following are two keys to how I personally achieved peace in my own life.
ACCEPTING GOD’S LOVE
1. I finally realized that when I trusted God and asked Him to take control of my life, things that used to weigh me down were lifted off of me. I could see the light at the end of the tunnel and I gained a new perspective in life. I became a much happier person. Through God’s word and love, I know that I am not alone and that He will carry me even when times are difficult. He will sustain me and see me through.
2. Be thankful for all of your blessings, including the good and the bad. The lessons we learn on our life’s journey can teach us many things. They help to mold us into the people we are, but more importantly, they allow us to make changes in our life when we need to. The simple act of being thankful allows us to have a happier and more fulfilling life.
If you are facing a difficult season, feel like you are climbing uphill, or are feeling unworthy, don’t give up! Keep fighting the good fight and realize that you are loved and worthy! God loves you, and I love you too. You never have to walk alone, just reach up and out. As we reach out to others and seek God, we will become thankful for even the difficult lessons of life. We are truly blessed beyond measure!
